Sebago Technics, Inc. has been selected by The ESOP Association as the winner of the 2008 Employee Ownership Annual Award for Communications Excellence (AACE). The AACE Awards are sponsored each year by the Association to recognize the outstanding communications and educational programs of its members. The awards are presented each May at the Association’s Annual Conference in Washington, DC to companies who have excelled in communicating ESOP (employee stock ownership plan) and its meaning to the company’s employees.

Sebago Technics is a 100% employee-owned company with offices in Westbrook and Lewiston-Auburn, Maine. Since its start in 1981, Sebago Technics has grown into a multi-service consulting firm of more than 90 design professionals and technical staff. Their multi-disciplinary project teams have played significant roles in the design, survey, engineering and implementation of many major projects throughout New England. Their clients benefit from Sebago Technics’ ability to offer a range of design services providing clients a “one-stop” in-house project approach. As an employee owned company, their employees have a direct stake in providing quality services that are responsive to the needs of their most important asset, their clients.

“We are pleased to have been selected as a 2008 AACE Award winner by the ESOP Association,” commented Walt Stinson, PE, President and founder of Sebago Technics, Inc. “We are proud to be an ESOP company and strongly believe in the power and benefits of employee ownership and share that belief with all our employees.”

The ESOP Association is a national organization promoting the benefits and interests of the more than 10,000 U.S. ESOP companies.  The Association’s AACE Award winners are chosen by a panel of five judges made up of both management and non-management employee owners, each of whom has demonstrated active experience and interest in the field of ESOPs and employee ownership communications. Awards are based on: overall quality and quantity of employee owner education, contributions of employee owners, integration of the ESOP into company culture, frequency of ownership communications, involvement and/or response of employee owners, encouragement of ownership attitudes, clear explanations, creative ideas, graphic design, and technical quality.

The core cause of The ESOP Association is the belief that employee ownership improves American competitiveness, increases productivity through greater employee participation, and strengthens our free enterprise economy.
