Fitzpatrick Stadium Field

The Fitzpatrick Stadium project included removal of the previous artificial turf surface, modifications to an existing sewer, and repair of a 24-inch natural gas main both that exist under the field. The new field artificial turf, manufactured by GreenFields/TenCate, was installed by Northeast Turf located in South Portland, Maine.

Along with the field turf replacement, the City of Portland also replaced the track surface in June 2015. Sebago Technics provided consulting services of the turf selection, and design of the utilities and drainage design, for all track and field improvements.

Along with the Field and Outdoor Track Surface replacements and improvements, we provided the City of Portland with other design services to add other necessary improvements to the field within the same budget, but which was not initially considered. By working with the City, they were able to reduce the original estimate for track improvements by section of a different surface application.

With those savings, we were able to add under bleacher drainage and erosion control improvements to protect the track surface from previous erosion, sedimentation, and scouring of bleacher footings, and added new pedestrian access to the bleachers from the concessions stand area. We coordinated all added improvements to meet City’s remaining budget and worked with their multiple contractors to resolve construction issues of site location conflicts and schedules, to meet the City’s demands for an opening for the summer recreation and team sports’ use of the track and multi-use field surface.
