It is our pleasure to announce that Brian McMahon has joined us as a Landscape Designer. Brian is a recent graduate from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Landscape Architecture and a minor in Community Planning. He is a Maine resident and interned with us over the past winter break. With his fun-loving attitude and strong work ethic, we believe he will be a great fit for the team, and we are excited to watch him grow in this role.

Where did you grow up and what other places have you lived in throughout your life?
I grew up in Dorchester, Massachusetts until 2010; my family and I moved up to Wells, Maine that same year and have no intentions of leaving anytime soon!
Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?
Sugarloaf, Acadia, Mount Katahdin, and Ogunquit Beach.
What three traits define you?
Ambitious, compassionate, and energetic.
What was your very first job, and what did you learn from it?
My very first job was working for a local seafood restaurant in Wells, Maine; I was responsible for breading seafood and prepping other various foods in the kitchen. After working at the restaurant for multiple summers, I grew to realize I wanted a profession with a lot of diversity built into it.
What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?
My favorite aspect of this type of work is being able to design and create spaces for individuals, companies, and communities to utilize for decades to come. Whether it’s for professional or recreational use, it’s extremely rewarding to learn how the spaces you’ve designed have positively impacted peoples’ lives!
What was your journey like to get where you are?
The journey I have taken to get to where I am today has undoubtedly been a mix of high and low points, but I’m grateful for everything I’ve experienced as it has shaped me into the person I am today.
What are your hobbies outside the office?
Hiking, running, traveling, and skiing.
What inspired you to work for Sebago Technics?
I was inspired to work for Sebago Technics after having the opportunity to internship with the company during my senior year of college. In the short amount of time, I gained an invaluable number of skills, and came to realize how successful the office was as a whole; on top of that, everyone I was able to work with was very kind and helpful which ultimately led to my decision of wanting to work here.
Favorite thing to do in Maine?
Hiking with friends all around the state!
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Chicken piccata!
Top three life highlights?
- Going to New England’s for cross country and track.
- Graduating from the University of Rhode Island.
- Winning a scholarship from the Boston Red Sox Foundation.
Do you have a hidden talent? If so, tell us about it!
General construction (rough framing and finish work) and building dry stack rock walls.
If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
Bigfoot because they are the most elusive creature on Earth.
Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?
My dream vacation would be either backpacking the O circuit in Torres Del Paine (Patagonia), or backpacking throughout the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park in New Zealand.
Favorite Holiday and why?
Definitely Christmas because my whole family is together, and I love gift giving!
What is the best concert you attended?
Khalid at the University of Rhode Island; it was my first concert ever and I’m a huge fan of most of his music.
Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
My fastest mile time was 4:45.
What are your favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family?
Having fires in the middle of woods, hanging out on a boat on the lake, and hiking across different parts of New England and the country!
When you think about working at Sebago Technics, what makes you proudest or most excited?
I’m most excited about meeting and working with everyone in the office, and hopefully becoming a licensed landscape architect within the next couple of years!
