Employee-Owner Spotlight: Shelly Stacey, Senior CAD Designer

Shelly Stacey

We are pleased to announce that Michelle (Shelly) Stacey has joined the Sebago Team as a Senior CAD Designer. Shelly has more than 20 years of CAD experience on local, regional and national projects. She is experienced in the development of full site civil plan sets as well as utility, roadway, profile and detail plans for local and national firms. Shelly is a graduate of Vermont Technical College with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology and currently lives in Poland, Maine.

What is your role at Sebago Technics?

Senior CAD Designer

What is your favorite part about your job?

Designing and problem solving.

How did you choose this career path?

I originally attended classes for accounting and decided I did not enjoy it once I got into banking laws, etc. but loved numbers, took some math courses and my professor pushed me to go to VTC which I did and took the civil engineering path since my father worked construction.

What places have you lived in throughout your life?

Vermont and Maine

Before working at Sebago, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Milking Cows

What three traits define you? 

I am kind, friendly, and family oriented.

What are your hobbies outside the office?

Gardening, Reading and my pets which include, dogs, horses, a cat and a fat-tailed leopard gecko.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Chocolate anything, with caramel…yum

Top three life highlights?

  1. My Daughter and Son’s Births.
  2. Graduating College
  3. Becoming an Aunt (best job ever)

If you were an animal what would you be?

Dolphin

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?

Oh that’s easy, Ireland, Scotland, Great Britain.

What is the best concert you attended?

Never been to one well except a cover band of Journey and Foreigner and that was lots of fun. Although it was outside and it rained so hard they had to quit early due to lightning.

What are you excited about at Sebago?

New adventures.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.  

I started school at age 3 and could read and write at that age.

What do you like most about working at Sebago Technics?

I love the environment here and the team work.

Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?

The reason I moved here, THE BEACH!
