Meet Our Summer Interns | Michael Feely | Civil Engineer Intern | University of Maine

Please join us in welcoming Michael Feely, who has joined Sebago Technics for the summer as a Civil Engineer Intern within the Project Delivery Team. Michael is from South Portland and is studying Civil Engineering at the University of Maine. We are so excited to watch Michael learn new skills and grow his career as a civil engineer!

Where do you go to school?

The University of Maine. I will be graduating next May.

What are you studying and why did you choose this major?

I am studying Civil Engineering. I chose this major because I want to use my gifts and talents to serve others. I find it fascinating and rewarding to work on a project and then see it being used to benefit those around you.

What has been your favorite class so far and why?

Transportation Engineering has been my favorite class because I enjoyed learning how engineers optimize both efficiency and safety on our roads. Analyzing and designing roads was like solving a puzzle!

What three traits define you?

Hardworking, caring, and fun.

What are your hobbies?

Spending time with family, exploring the outdoors, playing basketball and tennis, and solving different kinds of puzzles.

What inspired you to intern with Sebago Technics and what do you hope to learn from your internship?

I chose Sebago Technics because I wanted to apply what I’ve learned at UMaine to actual work being done in my community. The enthusiastic and collaborative environment at Sebago was very attractive, as well as the great variety of projects that they are involved in. I hope to learn about the process of a project from start to finish, and seeing all the steps taken to satisfy the client while following all design requirements.

What do you look forward to in your career?

I look forward to working with others to complete projects by overcoming challenges with innovative ideas.
