CEI Brunswick

CEI Brunswick

Situated on a site formerly occupied by municipal offices, the new building is sited and designed within a designated historic district.

Sebago Technics was retained by Coastal Enterprises, Inc. (CEI) to assist them in siting their new corporate office building in the downtown area of Brunswick. This 1.07-acre property was formerly occupied by the Brunswick municipal offices and a recreation center. Located within a designated historic district, this project overcame stringent design and historic compatibility review processes.

New construction allowed CEI to build to LEED Platinum standards. The design team was tasked with siting a building with 20,775 square feet of office space and associated site improvements and parking for staff and visitors. The site provides all the parking spaces needed by employees, so there’s no consumption of public parking, and the lot adds parking capacity to downtown Brunswick weekends and evenings when the general public can use it.

The design solution features an acknowledgment of nearby building forms and the placement of structures along the street edges of the site. Working closely with the Town Arborist, several mature elm and maple trees were preserved and are an integral element of the site design solution.
