Data Analyst: Traffic Division

REPORTS TO:  Director of Transportation Division

Our growth offers an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst within our Traffic and Transportation Division.  The Analyst will work with the team to:

  • Retrieve data from various sources including municipality and/or state owned: traffic signal management software, traffic signal field monitoring units, traffic signal vehicle detection, and other sensors.
  • Process and store retrieved data to various Sebago owned locations including: file share, data server, SQL server, Power Bi Data Gateway, and Power Bi Cloud Storage.
  • Manage Sebago owned data store locations by monitoring storage limits and archiving historic data.
  • Review and validate data for integrity and consistency.
  • Assist Traffic Operations Engineer to develop new data flows and optimize existing dataflows.
  • Assist Traffic Operations Engineer to develop reports and/or graphics.
  • Review high-level reports to determine inconsistencies or other observations.
  • Develop and maintain searchable databases (database format to be determined). Examples include:
    • Project Descriptions and related information
    • Marketing Materials
  • Help team develop and use Excel scripts for cost estimating, stormwater calculations, survey data, and other data driven applications.

EDUCATION or EXPERIENCE

Experience, certification, or training in all or some of the following is preferred but not required

  • Some College desired; Associate’s Degree or higher.
  • Certificate in Data Analytics.
  • Computer Aided Drafting and Design Software experience or training.
  • Knowledge in networking or communications.
  • Linux experience or training.
  • Python Programming Language experience or training.

 SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES

  • Able to work with common software and multiple file formats, including but not limited to:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Access
    • SQL Management Studio
    • Delimited file formats
    • Xml
  • Basic familiarity with scripting languages and ability to learn and or utilize unfamiliar languages. Languages we commonly use include:
    • VBScript
    • Microsoft BAT
    • Microsoft BASIC
    • HTML/Javascript
    • Microsoft DAX
    • Microsoft Power Query M Formula Language
    • Autocad’s AutoLISP and Script Commands
  • Familiar with or able to learn, Microsoft Power Bi Data Analytics Software and Smartsheet.  
  • Must have a high level of detail, organization, and presentation/reporting skills.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES and REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Occasional travel to project sites to collect data, sketches, or images.
  • Occasionally assist field crew with project data acquisition on active construction sites.
