Employee Owner Spotlight: Cory Cormier, Senior Project Engineer

Cory CormierIt is our pleasure to announce that Cory Cormier, P.E. has joined the the Sebago team. Cory is a graduate of Poland Regional High School (PRHS) and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). While at WPI he earned a Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Civil Engineering. He has more than 8 years of experience working for consulting firms in the Greater Boston and Metro West areas of Massachusetts on a variety of commercial, municipal, private and international projects. Projects typically include involvement with local, state or federal authorities for permitting and approvals. His design experience includes site improvements, stormwater management, water and wastewater, marine coastal improvements, pavement assessments, earth retaining walls, and pumping systems. He’s also assisted with drainage investigations resulting from property damage claims. Please join us in welcoming Cory back to Maine and to Sebago Technics.

What places have you lived in throughout your life?

I was born in Tewksbury, Massachusetts and moved to Poland, Maine at a young age where I grew up through high school. Following high school, I lived in Worcester, Cambridge, and Watertown MA. I’ve finally moved back up to Maine and currently reside in Mechanic Falls.

What three traits define you? 

Friendly, reliable, determined.

What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?

Making a positive impact on surrounding communities.

Before working at Sebago, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I worked on a 90 MGD combined sewer bypass pumping system. Worked with Alden Labs to analyze several flow and inlet conditions and how it impacted pump performance.

What are your hobbies outside the office?

I really enjoy the outdoors and doing activities such as hunting, fishing and camping. I also like playing hockey and golf.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Buffalo chicken Mac n’ Cheese!

Top three life highlights?

Passing the PE, Saskatchewan waterfowl hunt, moving back to Maine.

If you were an animal what would you be?

Bald Eagle

What is the best concert you attended?

Garth Brooks at the TD Garden.

What are you excited about at Sebago?

Working with a diverse team that has a wide range of skills and expertise.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.  

I lived in Hong Kong for 3 months during my junior year at WPI.

Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?

To one of my tree stands.
