Employee-Owner Spotlight | Joe Sears | Survey-CAD Technician II

We are excited to welcome Joe Sears to our growing Survey-Geomatics team! Mr. Sears has several years of experience with surveying companies locally and out of state, doing field and CAD work. Most recently, he worked for a broadband/telecommunications infrastructure company in Maine performing detailed CAD drawings, including site, mechanical, and structural.

When Joe isn’t hard at work, he enjoys homebrewing, disc golf, and dining at all of the great food establishments in Maine!

What places have you lived in throughout your life?

East Hampton, NY , Ventura, CA, Portland, OR, and Windham, ME.

What three traits define you? 

Easy going, humble, dependable.

What inspired you to work for Sebago Technics?

After doing survey field work for 5 years and telecom drafting for 2, this position at Sebago Technics allows me to put both of them together.

What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?

Turning field data into a deliverable product for our clients.

What was the most unusual or interesting job you had before Sebago?

Fish Cutter.

What are your hobbies outside the office?

Homebrewing and disc golf.

Favorite thing to do in Maine?

Eating at all of the great food establishments.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pizza.

Top three life highlights?

Moving to Maine, getting married, and currently building a home.

If you were an animal what would you be?

Dog.

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?

Oktoberfest in Germany.

Favorite Holiday:

Thanksgiving.

What is the best concert you attended?

Easily the hardest question, but probably taking my wife, then girlfriend, to see NOFX and some other punk rock bands in a parking lot on the Jersey Shore.

What are you excited about at Sebago?

This is a fantastic chance to learn from some of the top professionals in the area.

I was in the seafood industry for 12 years.

Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?

Novare Res in Portland, Pineland Farms disc golf courses, and the many breweries.
