Lauren Waters | Civil Engineer

We’re excited to have Lauren join our team as a Civil Engineer! Fresh out of the University of Vermont, Lauren brings enthusiasm and innovative thinking to our projects. What drew her to Sebago Technics? “The people! When I toured the office, I could tell that this was the supportive and hardworking atmosphere I was looking for.” Lauren is eager to contribute to our team and see projects through from start to finish. As part of our employee-owned team, she’s motivated to bring her best work every day. Welcome aboard, Lauren! We’re excited to see the fresh perspective you’ll bring to our projects.

Can you share a bit about your professional background and experience?

I graduated from the University of Vermont this past spring with a major in Environmental Engineering and a minor in Green Building & Community Design. In college, I had a couple research internships, one of which was studying floodplain resilience in extreme weather events. Sebago Technics is my first job, and I am super excited to join the team!

What inspired you to join Sebago Technics?

The people! When I toured the office, I could tell that this was the supportive and hardworking atmosphere that I was looking to be a part of.

What are you most excited about in your new role?

I’m looking forward to contributing to the team and watching projects all the way through to development.

What’s your go-to local restaurant or café in Maine?

Empire kitchen has some delicious dumplings. They are gluten free too!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests you’d like to share?

I really enjoy cycling, hiking, and skiing. I love spending time outside.

Do you have a favorite spot or activity to do in Maine?

Sebago Lake is one of my favorite places to be in Maine. I love spending time on the water with my family and dogs.

Have you explored any of Maine’s beautiful hiking trails or national parks? Which one is your favorite?

Acadia has been my favorite so far. It’s beautiful.

What was your first impression of the company culture at Sebago Technics?

Everyone here is very kind, supportive, and hardworking.

What are your thoughts on Sebago Technics being an employee-owned company through its ESOP, and how do you think it benefits the employees and the company as a whole?

It’s great! I think that working for an employee-owned company is a great motivator for employee-owners to put their best work in each day.

What’s one thing on your bucket list that you’re determined to accomplish?

Bikepacking in Patagonia! I went bikepacking for the first time this summer and I had a blast.
