Sebago Technics Acquires Pine Tree Engineering, Expanding Its Municipal and Midcoast Maine Presence

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Sebago Technics, Inc., announced the acquisition of Pine Tree Engineering, Inc. (PTE), a respected civil engineering practice headquartered in Bath, Maine. The acquisition strengthens Sebago Technics’ position in the Midcoast region and expands its ability to serve municipalities, state agencies, and private clients throughout the state.
“This acquisition reflects our long-term commitment to growing our presence across Maine while staying true to what makes Sebago Technics strong — talented people, trusted client relationships, and a shared dedication to the communities we serve,” said Mark Adams, CEO of Sebago Technics. “Pine Tree Engineering has built an outstanding reputation over more than three decades, and we are proud to welcome their team into ours.”
About the Acquisition
Founded more than 30 years ago, Pine Tree Engineering built a strong track record primarily serving Maine’s municipalities and state agencies. Numerous towns and cities have relied upon PTE to support their engineering and infrastructure needs. PTE’s role as their dedicated on-call engineer is a testament to the deep, lasting trust PTE has earned with its clients.
In total, six professionals from PTE are joining Sebago Technics, bringing years of experience in civil and transportation engineering, CAD, permitting, and related services. The PTE team will be joining Sebago’s Brunswick-based team, further strengthening the company’s growing Midcoast footprint alongside prior expansions into the Lakes Region, York County, and South Portland.
Experienced Leadership Joining Sebago Technics
Robert Prue, P.E., former President of PTE, brings 40 years of civil engineering experience with a focus on municipal and state projects across Maine. He will remain with Sebago Technics through the transition, bringing with him an irreplaceable depth of knowledge and an extensive professional network.
“Over the past 30 years, we have been fortunate to build strong relationships with the municipalities and agencies we serve,” said Robert Prue, P.E. “Joining Sebago Technics gives our team access to greater resources and broader expertise while allowing us to continue delivering the responsive, personal service our clients have always counted on. I am confident this is the right next step for our team and the communities we serve.”
Jeremy Prue, P.E., former Vice President of PTE, brings more than 15 years of transportation engineering experience gained on major projects in New York and Boston before returning to Maine. He will serve as a Senior Project Manager and will be a key contributor to the growing Midcoast team.
“This is a great opportunity for everyone involved,” said Jeremy Prue, P.E. “Sebago Technics shares our commitment to quality work and client service, and becoming part of a larger organization opens new possibilities for our team and for the clients and communities we’ve worked hard to support. We’re excited about what we can accomplish together.”
Expanded Services and Client Reach
PTE’s areas of expertise include Transportation Engineering, Water and Wastewater Engineering, Marine Engineering, Permitting, Recreational Facility Design, and Construction Services — capabilities that complement and deepen the services Sebago Technics already provides.
PTE’s client relationships include the State of Maine — including the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (Parks and Lands and Boating Facilities) and Inland Fisheries and Wildlife — as well as numerous Maine municipalities, including Norway, Bowdoinham, Phippsburg, Fryeburg, West Bath, Richmond, Oxford, Monmouth, Sabattus, Waldoboro, and others.
“What drew us to Pine Tree was the people. Rob and Jeremy have built a team that shares our standards and, more importantly, our sense of how you treat clients and each other,” said Kylie Mason, President and COO of Sebago Technics. “As an employee-owned company, we don’t acquire firms so much as invite people to become owners alongside us. That’s what’s happening here.”
