Project overview

As part of a bridge restoration project for the state of New Hampshire, over a dozen individual State route overpasses were in need of rehabilitation.

Prior to the complete reconstruction of the road decks, the installation of temporary shielding was required to prevent spalling concrete from falling into the roadways underneath.

Sebago Technics utilized High Definition Scanning to generate a digital model of the structural steel in order to prefabricate the shielding to ease installation and reduce the shutdown time of roadways. The tolerance of the model needed to be less than 1/4 inch in order to install the shielding between the flanges of the rigid steel structure.

The combination of laser scanning from the roadside and the prefabrication of the shielding components allowed the minimum amount of disruption to commuters on the roadways.
