Project overview
Merging precision geomatics, 3D modeling, and public engagement, we have crafted a resilient and replicable community model for climate adaptation.

project Details
A coastal community’s response to climate change, modeled in high-definition
This innovative project leverages Sebago’s advanced geomatics services and 3D modeling capabilities to create highly accurate digital replicas, or “digital mirrors”, of vulnerable coastal sites. These models empower engineers and planners to test mitigation strategies virtually without risk, while also supporting informed, long-term planning. The replicas also demonstrated to the wider community that our proposed strategies were grounded, realistic, and achievable.
Sebago’s approach incorporated deep community engagement by organizing an interactive event at the St. George School, where town residents of all ages could explore the models and see future plans. Funded by the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future (GOPIF) and bolstered by in-kind services from the Sebago-led consortium, the effort is designed to be both unique to St. George and adaptable for other coastal communities.
Ongoing community feedback is shaping development codes, guiding resource allocation, and fostering a shared vision for a resilient future. The methodology also allows any sea level rise scenario to be seamlessly visualized within centimeter-accurate models, offering unmatched clarity for stakeholders.
This forward-thinking collaboration demonstrates how cutting-edge technology, thoughtful engagement, and civil planning can combine to meet the challenges of climate change, one coastal community at a time.
