Project details
Structural design and renovation for a community library
Working alongside project architect Arcadia Designworks, Sebago Technics provided structural design and construction administration services supporting interior renovations throughout the building, including structural modifications to the existing library stacks to open up more usable space in the lower level. On the exterior, a new roof canopy was added at the rear of the building to support outdoor activities, and a boldly cantilevered structural steel entrance was designed to shelter new stairs and ramps leading to the main level. A new lower-level entrance was also constructed below the main entry to replace exits that were removed as part of the interior reconfiguration.
As part of the project, Sebago Technics completed a structural analysis of the existing roof framing to evaluate the feasibility of adding photovoltaic panels, confirming that solar could be incorporated to help offset the library’s energy needs.
