Project details
Structural engineering for a school re-roof and safety upgrade
When the planned re-roof presented an opportunity to take a closer look at the existing structure, Sebago Technics completed a structural analysis of the roof framing systems and found the framing to be significantly understructured relative to current code-required snow loads. Sebago Technics then prepared Construction Documents to reinforce the roof framing, which RSU 57 used to pursue School Revolving Renovation Fund (SRRF) financing through the Maine Department of Education. The project was awarded funding as the top applicant in the state. Sebago Technics worked alongside ARM Consultants, LLC, who led the investigation and evaluation of the existing roof and specified the replacement system, and Preferred Construction Management Co. Inc., who prepared construction cost estimates to support the funding pursuit.
With a total project budget of approximately $1.2 million, Sebago Technics will continue supporting RSU 57 through the bid process and into construction, ensuring the school’s roof framing meets today’s safety standards for years to come.
