Where did you grow up and what other places have you lived in throughout your life?

I was born in Buffalo, NY, and mostly grew up in PA. I have lived in Souderton PA, and Orono, Corinth, Windham, Harrison, Auburn, and a few other towns in Maine.

Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?

Sugarloaf.

What three traits define you?

Adventurous, loyal, curious.

What was your very first job, and what did you learn from it?

I worked at Moyer’s Lawn Care after school, calling people to inform them that their lawns would be sprayed. I also called the neighbors who requested to be informed. I learned phone etiquette and customer service skills.

What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?

I like working in the field to get the technical information about soils and other resources that will help people make decisions about the best way to manage their land. Then if I can convey that information successfully, the land can be used for its best potential, and the sensitive areas will be protected.

What was your journey like to get where you are?

I got my BS in Natural Resources at UMaine, and started working at the United States Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service in Dover-Foxcroft a couple of years later. I started out mapping soils and stayed with the agency for 15 years. I switched to the private sector for more flexibility, and worked at Boyle Associates permitting for over a year. Then, I was fortunate to find a position with Sebago Technics!

What are your hobbies outside the office?

I like to ski in the winter, and hike and bike in the summer.

I knew Gary Fullerton and Mike Jakubowski through Maine Association of Professional Soil Scientists, and was impressed by the employee culture. Also, it is well-respected throughout the state!

A chipmunk? They like to run around and snack.
