Employee-Owner Spotlight | Calvin Conant | CAD Designer

We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our Sebago Technics team, Calvin Conant, joining us as a CAD Designer! 🎉

Calvin brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team. With his skills in 3D digital terrain models and plans for a wide range of projects, including highways/roadways, commercial & residential development, stormwater management, utility layout, zoning, and structural designs, he is set to make a significant impact on our company.

A proud graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Calvin holds a degree in GIS/Geotechniques and a minor in Earth Science. His educational background, combined with his practical knowledge, will undoubtedly enhance our capabilities. We are excited to have Calvin’s fresh perspective and passion for producing creative and efficient designs.


Where did you grow up and what other places have you lived in throughout your life?

I grew up in Greenfield, MA (Western MA). Went to school at UNH. After graduating, I bounced around NH before settling in Kittery, ME for the last few years.

Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?

I’ve been vacationing in Phippsburg, ME all my life.

What three traits define you?

Quiet, confident, and easy-going.

What was your very first job, and what did you learn from it?

When I was 15, I ran the snack shack on the 9th hole of my local golf course.

What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?

I enjoy work that involves conceptualizing and modeling.

What was your journey like to get where you are?

My journey was a bit uncertain. I had no success finding work in my major post-college. I took jobs in related disciplines which helped to develop my current skills and interests. I’m happy where I am today.

What are your hobbies outside the office?

My girlfriend and I play competitive Ultimate Frisbee for a club team based out of Manchester, NH called Scarecrow. Scarecrow is in the mixed division meaning that we are a coed team and play against other coed teams. Our season stretches from April to September. We practice weekly and travel to tournaments on the weekends.

I watch a lot of NBA and NFL. I go to a couple of Celtics games every year and occasionally a Pats game. I play video games, board games, and tabletop games with friends during my downtime.

What inspired you to work for Sebago Technics?

To be surrounded by professionals with a variety of civil expertise.

Favorite thing to do in Maine?

Camp

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Tacos

Top three life highlights?

Discovering Ultimate Frisbee, attending UNH, and moving in with my girlfriend Dani.

Do you have a hidden talent? If so, tell us about it!

I used to play a lot of open mics before the pandemic. I am prone to karaoke.

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

A raccoon for the opposable thumbs and urban lifestyle.

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?

New Zealand

Favorite Holiday and why?

Halloween! Best parties and there’s no pressure to travel or buy gifts.

What is the best concert you attended?

Gogol Bordello.

What are your favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family?

My and Dani’s families are big into camping. My brothers both whitewater raft/kayak and take me on the river in the summers.
