Employee-Owner Spotlight | Kelly Koehler | Civil Engineer

We are excited to welcome Kelly Koehler as our newest employee-owner! Kelly recently relocated from Colorado to Maine and joins our team as a Civil Engineer, bringing with her impressive skills and expertise in the field. She is a graduate of Colorado State University, where she earned a degree in Engineering Science with a focus in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Kelly’s knowledge and experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow as a company. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome to our team and the great State of Maine! We can’t wait to see all the amazing things she will accomplish.

Kelly Koehler – Civil Engineer

Where did you grow up and what other places have you lived in throughout your life?

I grew up in Parker Colorado, lived in fort Collins CO while going to school, and now live in Portland, Maine.

Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?

I have not been to many places in Maine, but I am looking forward to finding out!

What three traits define you? 

Adventurous, diligent, and lively. 

What was your very first job, and what did you learn from it?

My first job was at a bagel shop where my sister was working at the time. I learned it is hard having your sister as your boss.

What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?

I like the problem-solving aspect and the variety.

What was your journey like to get where you are?

I grew up in a suburb of Denver and then went to college at Colorado State University. After graduating, I realized I wanted to try living somewhere new so I decided to move to Maine and come work at Sebago!

What are your hobbies outside the office?

I like to snowboard, go to concerts, read, and do really anything in the outdoors.

What inspired you to work for Sebago Technics?

I was impressed by the company culture.

Favorite thing to do in Maine?

So far, it has been trying different restaurants.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Breakfast from a diner.

Top three life highlights?

  • The variety of Red Rocks concerts I’ve gone to with friends
  • Cousin trip to Vegas
  • Staying in a renovated school bus in the mountains

If you were an animal what would you be and why?

I would be some sort of bird so I could fly around or a sloth so I could chill.

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?

Japan or Antarctica.

Favorite Holiday and why?

Thanksgiving because it has all of the good energy of Christmas without the pressure of gift-giving.

What is the best concert you attended?

A Red Rocks concert where Rainbow Kitten Surprise headlined and Caamp opened for them.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.  

I worked at a dry cleaner that was owned by my friend’s mom for three years.

What are your favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family?

Camping trips, finding cool places to watch the sunset, and going skiing.

When you think about working at Sebago Technics, what makes you proudest or most excited?

I am excited to learn how to be a civil engineer.
