Employee-Owner Spotlight | Zack Jackson | Transportation Engineer

Zack Jackson, Transportation Engineer

Please join us in welcoming Zack Jackson, a recent graduate of the University of Maine, to the Sebago Technics team as a Transportation Engineer! Zack has already proven himself to be a valuable asset to our company during his intern experience with us this past summer/fall and we are thrilled to have him officially join our team. We look forward to seeing the contributions he will make in this role!

Where did you grow up and what other places have you lived in throughout your life?

I grew up in Lansdale Pennsylvania (about 40 minutes north of Philadelphia) and lived in Orono, Maine for 4 years while attending UMaine.

Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?

Moosehead Lake, Baxter State Park, and Eastport (West Quoddy Head Lighthouse and coastal trails).

What three traits define you?

Determined, loyal, and compassionate.

What was your very first job, and what did you learn from it?

Dishwasher and pizza preparer at a restaurant, and I learned how to communicate efficiently with a team and develop people skills.

Wakeboarding

What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?

I really enjoy the design aspect of my job. I think it’s super cool to look at something getting implemented that I designed!

What was your journey like to get where you are?

I had an amazing upbringing thanks to my family! College as an engineering major was certainly very difficult at times, but I had fun (when time allowed, of course) with friends and roommates throughout the experience!

What are your hobbies outside the office?

I am a major “Gearhead” and enjoy all things cars! I currently have three; one being a Crown Vic ex-police car that I manual transmission swapped!

What inspired you to work for Sebago Technics?

I heard good things about the company prior to interning last summer and after meeting my team here and working throughout the summer and fall, I knew it would be an amazing place to work!

Favorite thing to do in Maine?

I am a huge lake person and love spending time there as much as possible, between swimming, boating, and wakeboarding/water skiing!

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My simple answer would have to be pizza, but I do really like Swedish meatballs and I think I’d have to go with them!

Top three life highlights?

Buying my first car, getting my first two cats of my own, and graduating college with an engineering degree!

The orange one is Alani (boy) and the tortoiseshell is Aurora (girl) and they are siblings!

Do you have a hidden talent? If so, tell us about it!

I can do a probably not-so-great sheep impression!

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

I would want to be a bird because of the large distances they can travel and the views they can see from the sky.

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?

The number one item on my bucket list is to see the Northern Lights overhead, so I think I would have to say Alaska or Sweden, or both!

Favorite Holiday and why?

Christmas because it’s the one time of year I typically get to see most of my family!

What is the best concert you attended?

So far, I think James Taylor and The Eagles were the most memorable!

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.

I have owned 4 cars and I’m only 22.

Four wheeling with friends

What are your favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family?

I enjoy kayaking, hiking, swimming, 4-wheeling, stargazing, and most of all watching sunsets.

When you think about working at Sebago Technics, what makes you proudest or most excited?

I am most excited to work with the amazing transportation team, and think it’s super cool to be able to say that I’m an employee-owner!
