Responsibilities

This position can be fulfilled by either a highway design engineer or a traffic engineer that has the level of technical and managerial experience indicated.  The ideal candidate will be skilled in business development, technical analysis and design, and project management/client relations.

If the candidate’s specialty is highway design, s/he shall have a demonstrated background in managing and designing state-level Department of Transportation projects in the highway and bridge field.  This work shall include the following: roadway and intersection geometric design, closed and open drainage analysis and design, pavement design, pavement marking and signage design, ADA compliance, preparation of Maintenance of Traffic Plans, and multimodal facility design.   Our staff is comprised of sellers/doers, so it is required that the candidate be proficient in Bentley’s In-Roads and Microstation (or Civil 3D and Autocad) for plan production.  Proficiency in Microsoft’s Word and Excel are also a requirement. Business development will be an integral aspect of this position regardless of their technical specialty.  The candidate will be required to assist the Director of Transportation Services with proposal writing, presentations, and client development and management.  Our project managers are the main focal points for all of our projects both internally and with clients.  Being able to work independently in this regard, with support from the Director is the expectation.

While many of our assignments do not require large staffs, the candidate will be required to work with less experienced staff in a mentoring role and on some projects to get individual tasks accomplished.  Assisting the Director, coaching younger staff in their development is included as an expectation of this position, as is assisting with quality assurance and quality control for the Team.
