Employee-Owner Spotlight | Michael Feely | Transportation Engineer

We are excited to announce that Michael Feely has joined Sebago Technics as a Transportation Engineer! Michael is no stranger to our company. Last summer, he impressed us during his internship, and we knew he had a bright future ahead.

Michael recently graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Transportation. His passion for the field and dedication to improving the safety of our roads make him a perfect fit for our growing team. We’re excited to see his talent and expertise contribute to our continued success!


Where did you grow up and what other places have you lived in throughout your life?

I’ve lived in South Portland my whole life, only moving to Orono during college.

Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?

Acadia National Park.

What three traits define you? 

Hardworking, organized, and positive.

What was your very first job, and what did you learn from it?

My first job was as an instructor for a kids’ summer tennis camp. I learned how to teach others while keeping everything engaging, safe, and fun!

What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?

Knowing that I am improving the safety of our roads.

What was your journey like to get where you are?

In high school, I considered pursuing a career in architecture, but then I felt myself drawn more toward the role of a civil engineer. I interned at Sebago Technics last summer before finishing up my final year at the University of Maine. After enjoying several courses in transportation engineering, I decided to come back to Sebago and join the Transportation Team!

What are your hobbies outside the office?

Basketball, tennis, piano, movies, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with family.

What inspired you to work for Sebago Technics?

My internship last summer showed me that Sebago’s culture and vision make it a great fit for me. The company’s care for both its clients and employee-owners made me confident that returning would be the right choice.

Favorite thing to do in Maine?

Explore the coast.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Tacos or a burrito—either is totally fine!

Top three life highlights?

Exploring Yellowstone National Park, visiting Mexico (especially the pyramids at Teotihuacan), and getting a puppy, and raising him during the pandemic.

If you were an animal what would you be and why?

A wolf because I like being around family.

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?

Australia and also New Zealand (to see Middle-earth).

Favorite Holiday and why?

Christmas because of the festivities and family & friends coming together.

What is the best concert you attended?

Tom Petty.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.  

I’m the youngest of five.

What are your favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family?

Finding new places to explore, playing sports, and going to the beach.

When you think about working at Sebago Technics, what makes you proudest or most excited?

Being part of a large but close team that continues to grow in size and in its role in the community.
