Employee-Owner Spotlight | Ryan Russell | IT Systems Support Specialist

Join us in welcoming Ryan Russell to our team as our new Information Technology Systems Support Specialist. With a strong background in marketing and a passion for IT, Ryan has experience serving in roles such as Project Manager and Director of Operations for a Florida-based marketing agency. His expertise in Google Analytics and web development, along with his pursuit of A+ and Network+ certifications, make him a valuable addition to our IT team. Born and raised in Florida, Ryan recently relocated to Maine with his family and is eager to embark on this new chapter and contribute to our team. Let’s give a warm welcome to Ryan as he starts this exciting journey with us!

Where did you grow up and what other places have you lived in throughout your life? I was born and raised in Central Florida. Spent most of my life either in Melbourne, FL, or Orlando, FL.

Favorite place(s) to go in Maine? I’m probably too new to honestly answer, but I have enjoyed many of the trails in southern Maine and hanging out in Portland with family.

What three traits define you?  Hardworking, honest, and adaptable.

What was your very first job, and what did you learn from it? I worked in the back of an Italian restaurant washing dishes and learning kitchen prep. I learned what hard work meant since every moment is accounted for and necessary when working in a busy kitchen.

What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do? Helping others succeed and solving problems.

What was your journey like to get where you are? I come from a marketing and real estate background but always had a passion for building PCs and troubleshooting networks.

What are your hobbies outside the office? I mostly read or play video games with my daughter but I also enjoy hiking and fishing.

What inspired you to work for Sebago Technics? Sebago Technics is a leader in workplace happiness and I wanted to be a part of a business that saw potential in its people, not just the revenue.

Favorite thing to do in Maine? So far, I enjoy just being outdoors here. Whether it’s working on something at home or hiking. It never gets as uncomfortably hot as it did in Florida!

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? Easy, pizza.

Top three life highlights? My daughter’s birth, marrying my wife, and watching the Lightning win back-to-back Stanley Cups.

If you were an animal, what would you be? Bear.

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation? Scotland. Both sides of my family are from the Glasgow area.

Favorite Holiday and why? Christmas, because my birthday is 12/21 and I always had to combine them!

What is the best concert you attended? A recent one is Fiddlehead at the Royale in Boston.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.  I am a hockey fan from Florida.

What are your favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family? Hiking, fishing, and swimming at the beach.

When you think about working at Sebago Technics, what makes you proudest or most excited? I love that we are all employee owners. It creates a sense of pride in the work we do that a standard business can’t replicate.
