Employee-Owner Spotlight | Griffin Steinman | Traffic Engineer

We love seeing our Sebago family grow! Please join us in welcoming Griffin Steinman, EI, who has joined our Transportation Team as a Traffic Engineer!

In this position, Mr. Steinman will be conducting traffic studies and permitting for site development projects and also provide support to our traffic signal design and operations practice.  A Maine native, Griffin graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Civil Engineering.  He served in transportation intern roles with both the Maine Department of Transportation and the City of Portland.  In these roles, he gained experience in highway/bridge construction, parking inventory/demand, traffic counts, and bike/ped planning. 

Since graduation, Griffin has worked as a Project Engineer/Estimator with a regional traffic signal equipment/services provider.  In this role, he has gained technical knowledge regarding the design, operations, and installation of traffic signals and signal systems.

Where did you grow up and what other places have you lived in throughout your life?

I grew up in Cumberland, Maine and have lived there my entire life.

Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?

Lake Moxie in The Forks.

What three traits define you? 

Loyal, Humorous, Organized.

What was your very first job, and what did you learn from it?

Farm hand – animals can be mean!

What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?

Improving the flow of traffic, and shortening people’s time in cars.

What was your journey like to get where you are?

I studied Civil Engineering at the University of Maine.

What are your hobbies outside the office?

Golf, Boston sports teams, and camping.

What inspired you to work for Sebago Technics?

The people and the employee-ownership.

Favorite thing to do in Maine?

Golfing.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pizza.

Top three life highlights?

Graduating college, winning my class science fair, and breaking 100 on 18 holes.

If you were an animal what would you be and why?

Dog – I’d still like to live like a human.

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?

Ireland.

Favorite Holiday and why?

Christmas. I like to shop for others.

What is the best concert you attended?

I have never been to a concert, but I was planning on going to Aerosmith at Fenway pre-Covid.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.  

I’ve been chased by a moose.

What are your favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family?

Fishing and yard games.

Excited to get to work on projects that are close to home, and places I’m familiar with.
